Arrest of Sin Chew Daily News Reporter

I strongly disagree and am utterly disgusted with the government’s use of the Internal Security Act on Sin Chew Daily News reporter Tan Hoon Cheng. As a reporter, Tan was only carrying out her duties as assigned to her. Her story had gone through the due editorial process before it was printed.

Detaining Tan under the ISA would go against the grains of freedom of the press and give the public the perception that the government was keeping information from them, thus further stroke discontent among the people and may spin off rumours arising from the issue. It will also turn the people further away from the mainstream media as a source of information and encourage them to turn to blogs and Internet which may be exploited by certain quarters. If the government feels that Tan had broken any laws, she should instead be charged in court under the those laws.

I read with disgust and anger swelling the news about the ISA detention. Why not go for the real wrongdoer than a poor reporter!
Has the Governement and the Home Ministry totally blind? Can people be fool and fool all the time? Justice will prevail!

This is a classic case of double standard. The person who triggered this is walking free and the innocent ones are being put in jail. Is this what the government means by "mutual respect"? Please, Malaysians are not stupid!

For the sake of justice and righteousness, do what you are supposed to do now! Have some conscience, stop talking, act now!

If you this is a gross injustice to the people of Malaysia, what are you going to do about it? What about the rest of the component parties of BN from Sabah and Sarawak? As leaders, if you see injustice and dare not speaks out... is there still hope in Malaysia. Someone once said, " The greatest liar is the man who speaks of peace and love, but do not have peace and love in his heart." Are all BN leaders in this category! Speak up now or forever held your peace.

BN especially Unmo should really wake up to gain back the confidence of the public if not BN will surely fall in the next election. I strongly believe that the reporter had done nothing wrong. She just merely did her job as a reporter and wrote what had been spoken by Ahmad Ismail. If she does not release at anytime soon, I can tell you that more and more anti government movement will arouse.

Come on Malaysia, you are a laughing stock from Australia where my children are now seeking their fair education. One day when we come back we want a better place to live and work.
Release the Chinese reporter Tan now and go for Ahmad Ismail.
Be fair and seen as fair.
Datuh Seri should consider going over to PKR,the lesser of the two evil.
We want a change and stop to corruption in Malaysia.
