Vital for backbenchers to bring up problems, says Fong

PETALING JAYA: Submitting questions to Parliament is the most important task for every backbencher as it ensures the Government is aware of the people’s problems, said Datuk Seri Dr Fong Chan Onn.

The MCA vice-president and Alor Gajah MP said MPs were also allowed to ask supplementary questions during the question and answer session and it helped MPs to seek a solution to the problems faced by their constituents.

He said there were limits on the questions posed by the MPs but they must learn to prioritise the importance of their questions when preparing them.

“I’m rather surprised at the very vocal Opposition MPs, who constantly hit out at the Government especially during the campaigning period, for not being able to find time to prepare questions for the Parliament session which allows them to direct the grievances of the people to the Government but have time to attend public forums,” he said.
